Filling empty and thin descriptions
Search engines and AI shopping tools can only recommend a product they can read about. Fillwell finds the products whose description is empty or too short to say anything, and drafts one from the details each product already has. You review every draft before it is saved.
How to fill descriptions
- On Home, open the Thin or empty check in the Descriptions card and click Fill descriptions.
- Click Fill & review. Each draft is 30 to 60 words in up to four plain sentences, with no formatting.
- Read the drafts. Click one to edit it, then click Done.
- For a product that got no draft, click its row, type the missing facts under Prompt for this product, such as material, size or colour, and click Fill.
- Click Save this page.
Good to know
- Thin means fewer than 30 words. Fillwell counts the words a shopper reads, with HTML and formatting removed. An empty description has none.
- The AI reads the title, the current description, the product type and the vendor. Facts in the current description are kept. Tags are not read unless you add them under Sources.
- Drafts use only facts the product states. When those facts cannot honestly fill 30 words, Fillwell writes nothing and the row gets a skipped pill. Click the pill for the reason, which can name the facts that are missing. On a page this costs nothing.
- Brand voice starts selected under Sources on this queue. It sets style and tone only. If your brand voice setting is empty, nothing is added.
- A saved draft replaces the product's current description. You can undo a save from Activity.
- You can type a description shorter than 30 words and save it. The product is still thin, so it stays in the count.
- A description the AI wrote costs one AI credit, charged when you save. One you typed yourself is free. An AI draft you then edit still costs its credit.
- A page holds 25 products. Bulk fill & save under More actions does every product in one run and needs a paid plan. In a bulk run, a product the AI could not write for still uses a credit.
- To rewrite descriptions that are already long enough, open Custom jobs and choose Write product descriptions. It lists every product and needs a paid plan. It has no 30 word minimum, so a product with few facts gets a shorter draft.
