Filling image alt text

Alt text is the short line that tells search engines, AI tools and screen readers what a photo shows. Fillwell looks at each product image and writes one line for it. You review the lines beside the photos and save the ones you want.

How to fill missing alt text

1. On Home, open the Alt text check and click Fill alt text. Each product row has one line per image that has no alt text, with a small copy of the photo beside it.
2. Click Fill & review to fill the page. To fill one image, click the Fill button on its line.
3. Read each line against its photo. Click a line to edit it, then Done. Reset on a line puts that image back.
4. Click Save this page. A confirmation shows the credits for This page and what you have Available before anything is written.

How to check a photo at full size

1. Click the magnifier on a photo. The viewer opens with the photo, its position in the product's images, and its alt text.
2. Edit the line there and click Done, or use the image's own Fill or Reset.
3. Use the arrows on screen or the left and right arrow keys to move between the product's photos. Press Escape or click outside the photo to close.

Good to know

• The AI writes from the photo itself. Photo is always the first entry in Sources and cannot be removed. The other sources, such as the title and product type, only help it name what it sees.
• It describes what is visible, in one plain phrase of about 125 characters. 
• To name something the AI cannot know, click a line, type it under Prompt for this product, and click Fill. The note applies to that one image.
• Alt text costs one AI credit per image the AI wrote, charged when you save. The button counts products, so a page of 25 products can cost more than 25 credits. Lines you typed are free.
• The queue from Home shows only the images that have no alt text. To review or rewrite alt text that already exists, open Custom jobs and choose Set image alt text. It shows every image and needs a paid plan.
• An image the AI could not fill shows a reason, such as Image unavailable., and a Retry button.
• Bulk fill & save under More actions fills only the images that are still empty. Its credit figure reads "up to" because the number of empty images per product varies.
