How AI credits work

Fillwell bills in one unit, the AI credit. One credit is one product field filled by AI, and it is charged when you save the value, not when the AI writes it. Every plan comes with AI credits, and your balance is under Account, on the Usage tab.

What uses credits

  • Most fields cost one credit per product.
  • SEO can cost two credits per product: one for the SEO title and one for the meta description.
  • Alt text costs one credit per image, so a product with six images can cost six credits.
  • A value you type yourself costs nothing, even when it is saved on the same page as AI values.

What is free

Scanning your store and opening a queue cost nothing. Drafts are free too: Fill & review writes suggestions for a page without charging, and Fill samples previews are never charged because samples are never saved. A draft you reset or leave unsaved costs nothing.

When you are charged

  • Saving a page: credits come off when you click Save this page. If the page costs one credit per product and your plan covers it, it saves with no extra step. For SEO and alt text, where the cost is not the product count, a confirmation first shows This page and Available in credits.
  • Running a bulk job: on a paid plan, the confirmation screen has a Billing block that prices the job against your balance before you run it. The job is charged for the values it saves, so a job that skips products costs less than the estimate.

How to check your balance

  1. Open Account and pick the Usage tab.
  2. Read the AI credits meter. It shows what you have left out of your plan's credits. On a paid plan, the line under Usage this period gives the date your credits reset.
  3. On a paid plan, check the Extra AI credits card. Billed this cycle shows what has been billed against your spending limit, with a list of each charge under it.

You do not have to leave your work to see the number. Every review queue shows AI credits available in the strip above the products, and it goes down after each save.

Good to know

  • Paid plans include 1,000, 2,500, or 7,500 AI credits a month. They reset at the start of each billing cycle, and unused credits do not carry over.
  • On a paid plan, zero is not a stop. Past your monthly credits, each extra credit is billed at $0.02 to your Shopify account, up to the spending limit you approved. At zero the queue shows that rate beside your balance.
  • The free plan has 200 AI credits, one time. They do not renew, they are not restored if you uninstall and reinstall, and they do not come back if you later downgrade from a paid plan.
  • On the free plan, Fill & review locks when your credits reach zero, even though drafts are free.
  • In a queue, the balance turns yellow when 20 percent or less of your plan's credits are left.
  • The Concurrent jobs meter on the same tab is not a credit count. It shows how many bulk jobs you can still start at once.
