Translating product content

Fillwell translates product content into the languages your store publishes. There are two ways in. A check on Home lists the product descriptions that are missing a translation, one row per language. A custom job translates any one field into one language, including text you want to translate again.

How to fill missing description translations

1. On Home, open the Translations check. Each published language other than your main one has its own row.
2. Click Translate on a language. The queue lists the products whose description has no translation in that language.
3. Click Fill & review. Each row shows the original text, read only, above the translation.
4. Click a translation to edit it, then Done. Click Save this page to write the translations to Shopify.

How to translate another field

1. Open Custom jobs and choose Translate product content.
2. Under Field to translate, choose Title, Description, URL handle, Product type, SEO title, SEO description, or one of your metafields under Metafields.
3. For a metafield you may need to click Enable filtering first. Wait for Ready to translate.
4. Under Translate into, pick a language, then click Next →.
5. Fill, review and save as above. Bulk fill & save under More actions runs the whole list as a background job.

Good to know

• The Home check counts descriptions only. A product with an empty description is not counted, because there is nothing to translate.
• Translation queues have no Sources menu. The AI reads only the text being translated, and leaves brand names and product names unchanged. Use AI guidance for hints such as formal or informal address.
• For one product, click its translation and type a note under Prompt for this product, then click Fill.
• On a custom job the queue searches your catalogue as you go, so rows appear while it looks. If it pauses, click Keep searching. Until the search finishes, the bulk count reads "up to" the number of products in your filters.
• With one published language you see: This store publishes only one language. Add and publish a language in your Shopify settings to translate.
• A description translation keeps the same HTML structure as the original.
• Each translation the AI wrote costs one AI credit when you save it. Custom jobs need a paid plan.
